About BizSolo
A practical starting point for working for yourself.
BizSolo helps you work out what you could offer, who might need it, and how to handle your first project.
Maybe you’re the person who tidies up a messy folder, edits a draft, or keeps a website current. Could you offer that help as a service? And what would you need to agree with someone before they hired you?
Those are the kinds of questions BizSolo covers. We’re an independent publication for US-based people starting a one-person business and delivering services remotely. You can compare four service ideas, work through the guides, and use the planning tools without an account.
Work through an actual decision
Each business profile describes someone who might hire you, a first project you could discuss, skills you’ll need, and the demands on your time. The examples are made up to explain the work. You’ll still need to talk to possible customers and see whether the service fits.
When a question involves taxes, permits, or a platform’s rules, we link to the relevant official guidance in the article. You can check the source while reading and follow it for more detail.
Make sense of AI discovery
AI assistants are another place someone may look for a service. We explain how to publish useful information about your work, check the facts in an answer, and keep track of inquiries. A mention is an observation you can record; it isn’t a promise of paid work.
Who writes the guides?
The guides carry the organizational byline BizSolo Editorial. That identifies the publication rather than an individual expert. Our editorial policy explains sourcing, examples, AI assistance, and corrections.
